My mare was biting me while being led!
“Actions speak louder than words: my lovely biting mare, who walks behind you when you lead her (bit scary) and wasn’t letting fly spray near her, now walks at my shoulder, doesn’t bite and stands beautifully while I spray her! All in two short hours – Kelly is a miracle worker! She was very calm, friendly and approachable and at no point made me feel incompetent or unable to ask what at times felt like ‘silly’ questions! After the visit Kelly sent me comprehensive notes on the areas we covered which was great as its hard to remember everything during the session. I would have no hesitation in either contacting her again or recommending her to someone else”. Julie Axup, York
Long Lining Support
“Kelly supported me and Emi in our first long lining session, she made sure that every step was safe and fun and we had a great first session and I now have the confidence to take Emi’s training forward – I would recommended Kelly to anyone who needs help and support” Linda Samuel & Emi (3
year old Welsh Section D)
Extreme Aggressive Behaviour
“We were almost at the point of calling it a day and moving Gypsy Boy onto a new home, as he was showing extreme aggressive behaviour and becoming unmanageable to handle. Kelly was the first person who took the time to listen and understand what we were going through in such a supportive, non-judgemental way. Kelly explained why Gypsy may be behaving the way he was and supported our whole family through the session with him ensuring that we were happy with every step and had a plan we could follow going forwards. To say this session was a turning point for our family would be an understatement and therefore we would have no hesitation in recommending Kelly” Lorna (Mum), Paul (Dad) and Katie (daughter) and Gypsy Boy
Education for two 3 Year Olds
I met Kelly on a Perfect Manners weekend in Witney and I needed further help preparing my two 3-year old horses for backing the following year and wanted to help prepare for this as much as possible to make is a smooth transition for them. I had a number of sessions with Kelly who explained each step clearly and broke exercises down into manageable steps for us to achieve success. The horses responded really well too, Kelly is very knowledgeable and took her time with me and both my horses. I never felt rushed in anyway. I was very impressed with the results – Kelly is a true asset to Intelligent Horsemanship – please keep up the great work you do! S Gozney, Nottinghamshire
Groundwork and Riding Confidence
“The confidence that Kelly gave me in handling our Welsh X chestnut mare, Harmony, helped me to believe we could achieve our goals. I had a deep affection for my beautiful “grumpy old mare” and our bond greatly improved hugely thanks to Intelligent Horsemanship.
We have recently bought another horse and before tacking up, I asked the seller if I could lead him and do some of the basic Intelligent Horsemanship groundwork exercises. It was amazing how quickly he responded to me and I felt much more confident in assessing and getting on a horse with whom I had already established some trust.
Thank you so much Kelly for giving me not only the all important practical skills but also a better understanding of how to approach any issues that may arise, by opening my mind to my horse’s point of view!” Mary Pinkney and Harmony
Feet Handling and Farrier Support
“Paddy is my four year old 18hh Clydesdale – he is big softie but unfortunately he was never taught how to pick his feet up and would either collapse on you or just start walking off! Initially Kelly & Garry came to me at home but it was clear he needed regular training which due to a car accident I was unable to give him. Kelly kindly offered to take Paddy in as a training livery so he could receive the daily training he needed.
Kelly was lovely to work with, very flexible to both our needs and kept me fully informed on his progress the whole time he was with her. We also had several 1:1 sessions at her home during his stay so I could understand the work Kelly was doing and she even helped me arrange training with a farrier and gave me follow on support once he came home to ensure his and my learning transferred over successfully. I can now pick out all four feet without even tying him up! Amazing work – Thank you so much!” Amanda Dolby and Paddy
Donkey and Foal Help!
“I needed to gain tips on handling my two donkeys and Kelly did this very well with a positive and patient attitude. I know that in-between our sessions I can contact her for advice without it being a problem, which is really reassuring.
Three sessions on and I feel I have gained so much more confidence in handling and with Kelly’s advice and tips, I’m equipped to put things right if they don’t go to plan! All in all I am very happy. My donkeys are beginning to trust me, and this in turn will build our bond and enable me to care for them properly, without hesitancy, lack of confidence or fear. At the end of the day this was my goal and I am getting there with Kelly’s support. I would highly recommend her and have no doubt with Kelly’s help we will get where we want to be!” Tina Goodwin, Lincolnshire
We needed help with general handling and leading
“Kelly had a really positive attitude, friendly and non-judgmental and showed us good groundwork skills. Considering both myself and my wife are complete beginners, it was good to have someone that could cover the absolute basics and not make us feel like fools or be judged in anyway. I would happily recommend Kelly to friends, even if they were already ‘horse literate’. Terry Conner, Old Leake
